The impending divorce case between Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise is likely to center on the terms of custody for their daughter Suri, according to a source familiar with the case. Holmes filed court papers in New York. Neither she nor her attorneys have commented on the reasons for the split. Cruise was shooting a film in Iceland when the papers were filed. The source, who talked to The Times on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak, said Scientology and what role it would play in Suri's upbringing was a key factor in the split. Cruise is a prominent member of Scientology.

This newscast focuses on how Tom Cruise seemed to be blindsided by the divorce and had no idea it was coming. He hasn't even had the time to get a divorce lawyer yet. "TomKat" was a Hollywood sensation that lasted only 5 years. Katie Holmes wants full custody of their daughter Suri, which probably wont end well.

This social website gives tons of information about actors and actresses. On this website it gave more insight to how Katie was trapped in her marriage with Tom Cruise. Apparently Katie was waiting for about a year before she filed for divorce. It is said that Tom was very controlling of Katie's every move, and that Katie had to get out to save her daughter, Suri.
